Cadnant Planning Ltd has been commissioned by Grŵp Llandrillo-Menai to undertake a pre-application consultation (PAC) in respect of proposed development on land at Coleg Glynllifon, Ffordd Clynnog, Llandwrog, Caernarfon, LL54 5DU.
We give notice that Grŵp Llandrillo-Menai is intending to apply for full planning permission for the demolition of existing sheds and erection of two livestock sheds together with associated facilities and milking parlour, creation of landscaping bund, together with associated works.
Prior to formal submission to the Local Planning Authority and in accordance with the requirements set out in Part 1A of the Town & Country Planning (Development Management Procedure) (Wales) (Amendment) Order 2016, the proposal will be subject to pre-application consultation.
About the Application
The proposed development, comprising of a £1.3M sheep milking facility and lamb rearing unit, forms part of a series of new projects at Coleg Glynllifon by Grwp Llandrillo-Menai, as it seeks to build on its recent successes and consolidate its position at the cutting-edge of agricultural learning and the rural economy.
Featuring a milking parlour and sheep handling units, the new facility will prove to be an invaluable asset to the sheep and dairy industry Grwp Llandrillo Menai works with wider partners to drive knowledge transfer within the sector and establish a sustainable future for the production of sheep milk in Wales.
The proposal would be developed on an area of land within Coleg Glynllifon where two existing sheep sheds are present. These would be demolished to accommodate the proposed Welsh Sheep Centre and lamb rearing unit.
This project seeks to develop a model that enables high level knowledge transfer for the agriculture sector to demonstrate the commercial advantages associated with developing Wales’ capability and capacity to maximise the opportunity to grow a sustainable sheep milk market.
The sheep dairy sector offers an alternate income stream to Welsh farming enterprises. To capitalise upon this, market research, market animation and practical action that moves beyond signposting is required.
This proposal aims to see Coleg Glynllifon play a key role in developing the sheep dairy sector, by developing a greater understanding of the commercial opportunity and integrated service delivery with partners in the best interest of the people accessing the service.
In addition to providing an economic boost to the north Wales economy, the proposal represents a significant investment in the educational future of Grwp Llandrillo-Menai’s students. The new projects will provide a range of modern facilities to help nurture greater learning, entrepreneurship, innovation, knowledge transfer and enterprise development.
