Planning and Development Graduate Scheme

We work with all sectors of the development industry (public and private) to assist them in formulating and implementing development schemes.
​
As a graduate planner, you will provide support to the Cadnant Team whilst working towards achieving MRTPI qualification.
​
Your workload will include:

Review of planning enquiries and providing initial planning advice;
-
Preparing and submitting pre-application enquiries;
-
Preparing and submitting planning applications and appeals;
-
Preparing Planning Appraisals;
-
Planning strategies; and
-
Preparing and submitting development plan representations and monitoring progress.
​
You will provide advice and guidance to a variety of clients including developers, housebuilders, tourism businesses, energy companies and private individuals as well as local planning authorities and other third party sector organisations.
​
Who are we looking for?
You will work on a number of varied projects, so a proven ability to manage your own time, workload and problem solve is critical. Ideally, you will also be able to demonstrate the skills needed to market and innovate, or be willing to learn and develop these skills as these are important elements of this role within private practice.

Basic requirements:

Have (or be expected to be awarded) a 2:2 degree or higher in Town Planning, Geography or similar land based degree

If you do not have an RTPI accredited degree, be willing to undertake a Masters degree in Town Planning which could be undertaken part-time alongside working to gain experience.

Willingness to work towards chartered membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (MRTPI)

Excellent analytical, presentational and writing skills
-
Clear commitment to working in the planning and property development field

It is also desirable for you to have the ability to confidently speak and communicate through the medium of Welsh together with good written skills in Welsh or be willing to learn Welsh with support provided by Cadnant Planning.

We offer flexibility to work from our Conwy or Chester office and also work from home, along with the opportunity to work in an environment which allows for an excellent work/life balance. Although this job role may require some travel out to various sites with the Planners.
